Below, the Matchbox Wilton Fire Blaze Blitzer with the Airport Fire RSQ Blaze Blitzer...

While the Blaze Blitzer is a fantasy model, it's styled realistically. albeit more modern than the classic Cadillac ambulance. I passed on both of these initially, but picked up later for their undeniably great colors and design. I recommend them both!

HW Rescue Duty

The Hot Wheels Rescue Duty was a Treasure Hunt last year, and I'd forgotten I actually have both the blue and white HW Racing blue and white variations from 2013. I'm not crazy about plastic bodies on my Hot Wheels, but I do like the 2015 releases of this truck in red and neon yellow. Check out the video:

Love the big wheels and overall chunky brick of a casting- I'm a fan of fire/rescue vehicles in general, and the Hot Wheels new 2015 Backdrafter is a fun firetruck with a twist! Check out the video:

Tomica Ranger Tanser, Hitachi Dump, Komatsu Excavator, & Mitsubishi Lancers

From the small Tomica haul Japan Post delivered on Wednesday...

Mitsubishi Lancers:

This Tomica Limited 2-pack features one Polis Lancer, and one Fire Chief deco. These are more detailed than the HED Tomica I've been posting on since my recent obsession took hold. They also have rubber tires. Other features include opening doors and "suspension", like the basic Tomica models... really nice set!

Dream Tomica Ranger Tanser:
Tomica make several larger Hyper Green Ranger Series vehicles with interchangeable parts, lights & sounds, and smaller diecast vehicles with mini action figures. This smaller Tanser has a swivel crane arm that can be pegged into one of two holes atop the 8-wheeled vehicle. Great presentation here ...

Hitachi Rigid Dump Truck EH3500AC II:
A nice & heavy, metal dump truck- pretty simple yet soled presentation, like the old Matchbox Faun. A notched peg under the bed holds it up when engaged. Duallies on back of this great little truck!

Komatsu Excavator PC200-10:
I love how this excavator has two points of articulation and swivel cab, but the rolling rubber tracks really make it great. Sure, it requires more force to roll, but real excavators move slower anyway. Great little piece!

March Matchbox Dump!

I found some new Matchbox on the pegs last night, and decided it was time for another Matchbox Dump here at the Super Fun Hot Wheels Blog! My favorites of these may be the Mini Dozers pictured above, the white casting picked up in August, and the orange more recently. Check out the video:

Tomica Emergency Vehicles

Please excuse me while this blog is not so briefly taken over by my latest fascination: imported Tomica cars. My October 26th post featured photography of childhood Tomica, and my exploration into various diecast models since the inception of this blog eventually led me back to these fun little cars. I received my first box of almost two dozen, and plan to show them in detail starting with these four fire/rescue vehicles, each outfitted with those familiar, slotted Tomica wheels... Go! Go! Tomica!

Hino Aerial Ladder Fire Truck #108
The obvious appeal of this firetruck is the outstanding, 3-stage aerial ladder that rotates 360 degrees... just wow! Sure this line of Tomica are akin to the mainline Matchbox vehicles, but you won't find features like this on a regular Mattel casting.

Nissan NV350 Caravan Fire Chief Car #27

I love a Fire Chief vehicle in all red, and this heavy casting has an opening hatchback. One could quibble with the painted back window, but in order to keep the cost down, it was like necessary because of the hatchback costruction. Love this one!

  

Honda Insight Patrol Car #83

I love the red chevron lightbar on this casting, which also features an opening hatchback. The wheels on this car have "suspension", like the childhood Tomica I still have a few of. Great little cop car!

Morita Fire Fighting Ambulance #119
The last, and probably my favorite of these is the Morita Ambulance, with it's side-loading stretcher doors- wonderful! There are some great details in this casting, and I love the oversized light bar. Like the Hino ladder truck, it has a metal body and chassis, making this brick the heaviest of these...

The opening doors and that incredible ladder on the Hino Firetruck make these so much fun! Sure, they are cheap little imported cars from Japan (actually made in Vietnam), but like Matchbox and Hot Wheels, Tomica have their own style and endearing features. I paid considerably more for them, but their exotic appeal is irresistible to my Western sensibilities.
