HW Rescue Ranger and '57 Chevy

These are two favorite castings from childhood I found recently, though my Rescue Ranger didn't have a blown engine like this! I've had the orange variant of the 2013 '57 Chevy for awhile, and was glad to find this purple one- see it and more comparison shots in the video below:

Also found on my recent Hot Wheels hunt, the green 2010 New Model HW Backslider, seen at the end of the video above with my purple 2014 Backslider. I love tow trucks in general, but this casting is special for it's sliding ramp- really cool!

HW Track Stars Aero Blast 2017

I have two or three Trackin' Trucks I bought three years ago that I haven't opened, but could not resist giving this Aero Blast a spin. I loved the futuristic cab and colorway on this Track Star truck! Check out the video to see if it lives up to it's name:

Below the Aero Pod hauler with my 2011 and 2013 Rennen Rig, both of which have similarities in deco to the former. 2017 L-Case Haulinator

Another great example of the Hot Wheels design team's great fantasy models, the Haulinator! I love the ramp extension feature on this casting, and am also a fan of the HW Backslider & HW Fastbed Hauler for their similar gimmick.

HW Galactic Express Hauler & Mad Manga

I told myself I wasn't going to buy anymore of these Hot Wheels Haulers, but the Galactic Express was just too unique to pass up! I love the colors, the Hokusai-inspired wave on the trailer, and the Mad Manda car included in the set sports a stellar paint job, perhaps the best it's had so far. I included the recent Batman v. Superman and 2015 P-Case Mad Manga in this production to make it extra fun! Check out the video:

Disney/Pixar CARS Shifty Drug Hauler & Kevin Racingtire

After finding the Piston Cup Series Kevin Racingtire, I found his pink hauler from a Chinese seller on eBay at a decent price. The turning radius is restrictive on this hauler due to the hitch placement, and the axles are a little long, making me think this may have been a factory second, but he's fine otherwise. I love the fun colors on this pair! Check out the video:

HW 2015 Haulinator

I'm a fan of diecast haulers in general, so I was looking forward to picking up a couple of the new HW Haulinator from the recent N-case. I love the flared stance of this casting, and of course the expanding bed track. Check out the video:

Disney/Pixar Cars Wally Hauler

I'll be the first to admit I have a love/hate relationship with the retail Goliath- while they are undeniable the downfall of Main St. America, I worked at one of their small stores briefly as a teenager, and do buy my share of Hot Wheels there. I'm also a fan of haulers in general, so after seeing this Wally Hauler again recently, I had to roll him home! Check out the video:

HW Highway Blast Hauler & Prototype H-24

I'm a sucker for these Hot Wheels City haulers that include a car, and jumped on this Highway Blast with the Prototype H-24.  I just love a hauler to put other cars onto! While I was at it, I decided to crack open the new black/blue HW Race Team H-24 I picked up at the end of March. Check out the video:

The H-24 Prototype in a fantasy HW Race model that I really like- I have three now, including my blue/orange 2015 HW Race Team model. I must say however, the new black/blue HW Race Team model may be my favorite....

Tomica Isuzu Giga Panel Van Trailer

More TOMICA here on the Super Fun Hot Wheels Blog! I'm a sucker for haulers- medium duty, LCF or otherwise, and love the treatment on this Tomica. The trailer has hinged cargo doors on both sides, which is trick, but mildly disappointing in it's emptiness. This slight quibble is due to it's scale being too small to hold any cars I have... I'll have to be creative and think of something fun to put in there. Still, a fun truck with a triple axle on the trailer...

Pictured below for size comparison, the Giga Panel Van Trailer with the 1:159 scale Isuzu Gala JR bus and what I believe is a 1:64 scale Isuzu Giga Full Trailer Dump. The Van Trailer has no specification on the underside either, but seems somewhere between...

These inexpensive Tomica may be commonplace in Asia (made in Vietnam), but their slight differences are appealingly exotic to me, and I willfully paid more for their import. Like Matchbox and Hot Wheels, they have their own history, style and endearing features that make them singular. Check out my post on the childhood Tomica I still have a few of, released as Pocket Cars here in the U.S. during the '70s & '80s.

Tomica Isuzu Elf Sagawa Express & Mitsubishi Fuso Canter

Okay, now back to the TOMICA here on the Super Fun Hot Wheels Blog! If you are new to the Super Fun Hot Wheels Blog, let me first say that I feature several 1:64 scale diecast vehicles here, not only Hot Wheels. I pay more for these imports, but Tomica cars are exotic and fun with their Japanese vehicle models and moving parts. Fun!

Unlike the Hiway Hauler 2 by Hot Wheels, the cargo doors on the Elf & Fuso open- a feature I love. While these Tomica are basically the Matchbox of Japan, you'll rarely find a feature like this on a Mattel diecast vehicle anymore...

For scale comparisons, the Isuzu Elf & Mitsubishi Fuso with the Tomica Toyota Vellfire. Like Hot Wheels, scale can vary across Tomica's line of cars- the Vellfire claims 1:59 scale, and I assume that the unspecified scale on these medium duty cargo trucks is 1:64...

HW Fast Bed Haulers

Love these Hot Wheels Fastbed Haulers- I picked up the red one in 2014, and found the 2015 green pair later. I never found a 2014 blue, but would pick up another in whatever color- black &/or gold would be nice to see. I was pleasantly surprised the bed will slide out and tilt down to load a car, just like the Backslider- love that! Check out the video:

HW Road Roller & Bone Shakers

I picked up this Hot Wheels Road Roller car hauler a few weeks ago, and decided to go ahead & photograph my 2014 mainline Bone Shakers since the Road Roller came with one. The included Bone Shaker has an open top and metal base, so it was a good opportunity for a comparison to the the other two. I'm not typically a roadster type, but I do like the Bone Shaker! The Road Roller is of the same construction as the HW Road Rally hauler I reviewed back in August- these appear to be chunkier in style than the HW Trackin' Trucks, of which I have a couple, I also have some of these from 2012 which don't look quite as good as these two. These Hot Wheels haulers are just big, dumb trucks, made for fun- and fun they are...

Greenlight Hitch & Tow 1971 Chevrolet Cheyenne & Flatbed Trailer

Everyone's talking about the Greenlight Hitch & Tow Series, and for good reason- they're great. Of particular interest to myself was this Cheyenne pickup and flatbed trailer, my high school rock band having played on such a setup for outdoor parties in my youth. Good times!

Greenlight produced another flatbed setup recently with an orange Chevy C-10 pickup that has a little more visual pizzazz, but this black & white Cheyenne has authentic detailing that can't be ignored. My single nitpick would be the white wheels, not as much for the color choice but the plastic-y material- and the aluminum hubcap lacks impact. Could probably fix that if you're a customizer. Still, a cool truck...

The Country Roads Series 1976 Dodge B-100 Van looks right at home on this flatbed trailer...

The trailer jack is threaded and can be twisted to lower onto the truck's hitch. Somewhat pointless at 1:64 scale, but it works. The ramps cup over the rails on the trailer so you can roll a vehicle onto the flatbed. I must also note the subtle but attentive detailing in the flatbed itself, textured like wood, with  aluminum colored wheel covers and black diecast base. Not bad...

And just for fun, the Hot Pursuit Series 1974 Dodge Monaco loaded up on the flatbed....
