Team Hot Wheels Monster Jam Firestorm

I appreciate monster trucks as much as the next red-blooded auto enthusiast, but they aren't high on my list of favorites. That said, I was drawn to this Hot Wheels Monster Jam truck for it's cool Team Hot Wheels Graphics, Track Ace rims, and a mild curiosity about the immensely popular line of diecast trucks. I won't waste a lot of your time writing on about this very youth-targeted line, but will say it seems popular with a healthy number of adult collectors as well since it's 2001 release, inspired by the famous sporting event. I also have the pleasure of knowing The Big Dawg, who took my drumming duties over for my rock band while I attended University. True story- great guy and real good rock drummer. It's unlikely I'll pick any more of these up, but I can appreciate the appeal of them...

While the Track Ace wheels on the Firestorm aren't very monster truck, they are very Hot Wheels, which appeals to me. Most all the other Monster Jam trucks had more appropriately bulky, rubber tires, but I found this one's large, gold spoked rims interesting and fun!

I was unaware the axles on these trucks could turn slightly to steer- it's not a sophisticated system, being merely a slotted glide channel, but it seems to work well enough. I would say the whole chassis and undercarriage is pretty cheap plastic, and I'm not sure how that would have held up in my childhood. Still the Team Hot Wheels graphics over the diecast body is really nice, and feels quality...

Even though the Hot Wheels Mega Bloks mini figures I have aren't in scale to the Monster Jam Firestorm, they go well with the truck's Team Hot Wheels deco, and are way more fun than the pinkie figure that came with the truck...

Make It FAST- Make It FUN!
