HW 75th Anniversary Batmobiles

I was somewhat surprised upon finding a Hot Wheels Batman 75th Anniversary dump bin at the local Wal-Mart after work on Friday, for $0.84 each nonetheless. I picked two of the eight available that were favorite portrayals of the Dark Knight Detective, the '89 Batman film and Batman: The Brave and the Bold animated series Batmobiles. Mattel has released both these castings in the past, but they are new to my collection...

This '89 Batman Batmobile isn't the coveted 2015 version I've been on the lookout for, but was cool enough for me to pick up. The front end is drastically exaggerated, but it works well on this Batmobile...

I  always loved the retro appeal Brave & the Bold Batmobile, the design of which pays tribute to several eras of the legendary car. The red pinstriping recalls the '66 Barris Batmobile detailing, the hood vents an homage to the Batman the Animated series Batmobile, and the bat-faced front end and fin remind me of the 1940s Batmobile. While I'm not a fan of the wheels Mattel used on this car, the design of this particular Batmobile has a lot going for it...

  1. I have the original release of that 'Hardnoze' Batmobile, but it has silver flames painted on it. I might need to track down this version!

BTW you wrote 'This '89 Batman Batmobile isn't the coveted 2015 version I've been on the lookout for'- did you mean the 2005 version of the '89 Batmobile? The basic line 89 version? If so, I have a spare. Email me if that's the one you need and I'll mail it to ya' :)

    1. No, they recently dropped a new '89 Batmobile with red pinstriping like the '66 Barris- REALLY cool!
